  • You can check the character-specific skills in the Character Skill Guide and choose a character you like.

Speed Mode

  • In this mode, you can Drift to charge your Boost and race faster on the track.
  • Practice drifting in Singleplayer Challenge and the Training Course.

General

  • You can obtain Racer Points (RP) and Matched Points when playing Item Mode/Speed Mode.
  • RP can be used to increase your Racer Level, and Matched Points can be used to raise your Rank in the Ranked Queue.
  • Equipping Balloon items gives you the following effects:

Fine Rank Speed Mode Increases the Boost Gauge’s refill speed 10%
Rare Rank Item Mode Reduces the number of inputs for Quick Escape when hit by Water Wisp or Water Bomb

  • Tip: You can see what items do in Item Mode and how to get Boosts in Speed Mode in the Item Mode/Speed Mode Guide at the bottom of the Game Mode UI.
  • Tip: When you enter Item Mode/Speed Mode, Joy's Surprise Test may appear randomly.
    • The rewards for completing challenges are given regardless of winning or retiring, as long as you finish the race, so give it a try!
  • Tip: Check the Tune Up System and tune your kart before playing Speed Mode!
  • Tip: Ranked Queue happens every three months, with rewards given upon first rank promotion.
    • Racers who rank within the top 1,000 at the end of the season receive an additional Emblem reward.
  • Tip: The Preset feature allows you to save frequently used karts, accessories, characters, emotes, and emojis as a set, which can be easily switched in the Garage or mode selection.

Mode Lab

Mode Lab periodically changes between different game modes for you to play.

Mode Player Count Gameplay
Flag Mode

Squad Only

In this mode, you capture flags that appear on the track and bring them to your team's Flag Zone to earn points. While trying to obtain and move the flags, you can use items that will appear on the track to obstruct the opposing team or protect your own team.
Infinite Boost Mode

Solo & Squad

You can fill the Boost Gauge more easily in Infinite Boost Mode than in normal Speed Mode, making for a more exciting and faster-paced race.
Crossover Mode

Solo & Squad

Crossover Mode combines the excitement of Speed Mode with the fun of Item Mode. You can get Boosts by Drifting and also obtain items from Item Boxes.

  • Tip: You can check the play guide for Mode Lab via the Guide at bottom of the UI.
  • Tip: In Flag Mode, placing flags matching your team's color in your team's Flag Zone earns you bonus points.
    • In other words, when the flag color and Flag Zone color match, you'll score 2 points; otherwise, you'll score 1 point.
  • Tip: In Infinite Boost Mode, the Boost Gauge does not charge if your speed is below 100 km/h.
  • Tip: Crossover Mode and Infinite Boost Mode can be played in either Solo or Squad Mode, depending on the mode's availability.

Custom Races

You can play with AI or friends on a mode and track of your choice.

  • Tip: After creating a custom room, you can invite friends or AI by clicking the "+" button in an empty slot.
  • Tip: To view all tracks, select the Change Mode > Speed Mode option in the Game/Item Settings.

Singleplayer Challenge

In this mode, you can take on various item and driving challenges. Rewards are based on the number of stars earned once you've finished the challenge. Give it a go!

  • Tip: In Single Player Challenge > Practice Field, you can practice various Drifting techniques and receive a reward the first time you complete a technique challenge.

Time Attack

Time Attack modes include "Time Attack Challenges", in which you compete against your own record, and "Ranked Player Challenges", in which you compete against the shadows of players who have ranked on a given track. The Save & Rewind feature lets you choose and repeat the specific section you want, so it's really useful when you need more practice.

  • Tip: You can find the Save Location & Rewind Guide at the bottom of the Time Attack UI.
  • Tip: You can save only one Save Location per track, and it will be deleted when you restart Time Attack.
  • Tip: When you use the Save & Rewind function, you will not see a new Time Attack record; your previous Your Best and/or Season Best will appear.

Replay

This feature allows you to watch gameplay videos again. You can view up to the last 10 matches in each mode, and if there are matches you want to save and watch again later, you can store up to 10 in Storage.

  • Tip: Replays are saved only if replay is 'Enabled' in Settings - General - Replay.
  • Tip: Replays are saved for Item Mode, Speed Mode, and Infinite Boost Mode, but not for other modes.
  • Tip: Replays are stored on the device used and will not be available if you change devices.
  • Tip: Replays saved in Storage can be accessed on other devices and are reset on the same schedule as the Ranked Queue.
  • Tip: Only games that have ended normally are saved as replays. Replays of games exited prematurely are not kept.

Racing Pass

By completing challenges or participating in events, you can acquire Trophies, which can then be exchanged for various reward items (such as karts, costumes, license plates, and decals) in Racing Pass. You can obtain more reward items if you purchase a Premium Pass from the Shop. The items in the Racing Pass change every four weeks, and all Trophies you've acquired will reset. Be sure to use all your Trophies before the four-week event period ends.

  • Tip: Once you've claimed all the rewards from your Racing Pass, you can swap any leftover Trophies for Racing Boxes.
  • Tip: Racing Boxes contain items from the previous season's Racing Pass.

Tune Up System

Each kart has Gears, and Tune Up involves distributing these Gears across nine different options. You can view the specific effects of each Tune Up option in the Garage > Kart > Upgrade, specifically under Detailed Performance Description. Each kart has different max values for its Tune Up options, details of which are available in the Kart Encyclopedia. Karts can be upgraded to higher grades by acquiring Proficiency and upgrading grants an additional +3 Gears. You can reset distributed Gears using the Reset Gears function, so try experimenting with different performance enhancements.

  • Tip: You can earn kart Proficiency when playing Item Mode/Speed Mode at or above a certain standard, but you won't get any if you leave a race before it's over.
  • Tip: For those still getting used to racing, tuning the "Maintain Boost after Wall Collision Boost" and "Boost Charge Amount" options can make it easier to gain Boosts.
  • Tip: You need to reach a specific upgrade level before you can allocate Gears to some Tune Up options.
  • Tip: You start with 20 Gears at Common Rank, and gain 3 extra Gears for each subsequent rank up.

Livery

With Livery, you can customize your kart using decals you've either acquired, or even created yourself. The Decal Market allows you to sell your own decals or buy some from other Racers. The seller earns the sales revenue minus a transaction fee, so try creating your own unique decal.

  • Tip: Some karts and decals provided through certain game events and collaborations may not be usable with the Livery function.
  • Tip: Once you're finished editing, you can click Done, select Save, and enter a Livery name to save your Livery.
  • Tip: Unauthorized use of someone else's work is a violation of our Terms of Service and will lead to the deletion of the Livery or decal.

Social

Friends and Party

In Lobby > Social, you can become friends with other Racers or form a party to play together. The Friend List shows all your friends regardless of the platform they are using. Select a Racer's name to see more details or delete them from your Friend List.

To form a party, you can do one of the following:

  • Right-click on a Racer's name in the Friend List to invite them.
  • Click on an empty slot in the party member list under the Party tab to send an invitation.
  • Click the Recruit button in the Party tab to gather members.

Report

If you encounter a disruptive player during a race, you can report them after the race is over by right-clicking their name in the Lobby > Menu > Report or Lobby > Social > Add Friend menus.

Block and Unblock

You can block a racer by right-clicking their name in Lobby > Social. If a player is on your Block List, you won't be able to engage in matchmaking play with them. You also can't invite a racer you've blocked to a party, nor can you join a party that includes them. To remove a racer from your Block List, go to Lobby > Menu > Block List, select the racer you wish to unblock, and then you can proceed to unblock them.

  • Tip: While you're in the process of forming a party or when you're in a party, you can't use certain functions like Livery or buying Shop items.
