Maintenance Notice KartRider Drift

Season 2 of KartRider: Drift, World Kart Championship, will now begin! A large number of changes and updates have been prepared for Season 2. This includes a new theme, tracks, and items, as well as many of the improvements that you've been looking forward to.

We are aware that many of you have been disappointed at the speed at which your feedback is being applied. We've been working to make these changes as quickly as possible, however we need to implement carefully, to make sure the changes have the correct effect, across different regions and on different platforms.

Our Dev Team is always eager to hear from you Racers, and we're putting in the effort to apply these changes to the game as soon as possible for you to enjoy.

Please give us a chance to show you everything we've been working on!

Now, let's get into the core specs of the KartRider: Drift Season 2: World Kart Championship update.

  • World Kart Championship (WKC) Track Theme
  • New Balloon Item
  • UNIVERSTAR BT21 in KartRider: Drift
  • New Game Mode: Infinite Boost
  • L2 License Changes
  • Livery Decal Market (Decal Trading System)
  • Item Mode/Grand Prix Mode Improvements and New System Additions
  • Various Improvements

The World Kart Championship theme is based on the racing circuit and holds stories of your favorite KartRider: Drift characters wanting to become world champions in racing.

Tracks with this theme are all Speed Tracks, to fit the feel of going for gold on some of the world's best racing circuits. There are also new characters, karts, and other items this season designed around this theme.

The Balloon item from the original KartRider is back! This consumable item minimizes the power of incoming missiles, briefly spinning you out (like when you run over a Banana) instead of getting sent helmet over tailpipe.

Not only that, but Balloons can be upgraded by spending Lucci, and they have their own effect in Speed Mode, increasing the automatic charge of the Boost Gauge!

UNIVERSTAR BT21 comes to KartRider: Drift in Season 2! We have a huge collection of BT21 characters and items available during sales and events in Season 2, and we hope you enjoy hanging out with them while they visit.

We can't wait to show you the wide variety of collaborations coming in the future as KartRider: Drift continues on!

One of the most popular modes from the original KartRider is back: Infinite Boost Mode! This variation on Speed Mode makes it a breeze to accumulate boosts, letting you tear around the track with ease!

This isn't a simple imitation of the original game, however, as you will still need to gain Boosts in normal gameplay and in certain situations. When things come together, however, this mode will allow you to feel the speed by using Boosts to the extreme.

We've expanded the License system with the new L2 License. This License mode will be a truly challenging test of your skills, and comes with a Training Course to help you learn the tricks and techniques needed to earn the L2 License.

Check out the new Livery Decal Market that we’ve added in Season 2. Now the decals you create can be sold to other Racers for Lucci in the Decal Market. If you are confident in your creative Livery designs, show off your skills by selling them and also earn Lucci at the same time! We can’t wait to see how our many talented racers make good use of it.

Season 2 also brings lots of game improvements.

We made adjustments in Item Mode so that the gameplay feels more aggressive. Item cube rates have been changed so that items will appear with improved balance. The Lightning item function was relaxed, and a mechanism has been added to prevent you getting 3 or more items at once from a row of item cubes. Our goal is to make Item Mode more dynamic, and overall balance adjustments and other improvements were made with that in mind.

Grand Prix Mode has also received improvements! The criteria for the Win Streak Bonus was changed, and is now granted on 3rd place finishes or above. The GPP difference between ranks has been decreased from 600 to 400. And the Rank Rewards criteria has also been adjusted, now using the highest rank achieved during the season instead of your final rank. The Hall of Fame provides the place rank and information for all Racers that placed 1st - 100th in the previous Grand Prix.

We also heard feedback from our players about several pain points, and we’ve added several things you asked for! Season 2 brings new features such as a track matching exclusion option, tutorial skip option, social features, and character inventory. We welcome your continued feedback so we can keep making more “quality of life” improvements to KartRider: Drift.

We hope you’re excited about these core updates for Season 2. Of course, we also have great new events and features for you to check out. Read the Patch Notes for more details on Season 2: World Kart Championship!

See you on the tracks!
Thank you,

-JL & the KartRider: Drift Team-
